SemaVis Visualization Cockpits

Framework for Visualizing and Editing Semantic Data Sources

The SemaVis framework, developed in Adobe Flex, is being developed as part of the THESEUS program, a research program initiated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) with the aim of simplifying access to information. As a basic technology, the SemaVis framework under the direction of the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics (IGD) offers a modular and adaptive framework for the visualization of semantic data.

The semantic visualization framework is implemented as an adaptive system and thus allows adaptation to different user preferences. This supports the optimal, user-centered use of the semantic visualization framework in various applications. Other components include semantic editing and semantic annotation. Both components communicate with ontology management systems using standardized interfaces, thus providing a high degree of freedom.
